Never thought about it till now. What comes to mind first is cost, then...

Cost to make a new pan or modified one.
Cost of pumps.
Cost of lines.
If mechanical were to run/place it.
If Electric, where place it, run power and saftey switch-warning/failure lights.
Weres the external reservoir going to go?

So far it seems a lot to do for little room to be gained, but with money it defenitley would help make things easier to route.
