Default faulty cluster?

I noticed my gas gauge meter is reading my gas fuel wrong. i put about $10 into the tank which is about 3 gallons of gas right there from 1/4 near empty. and it went up a bit above the half a tank mark. Could i have a faulty gas gauge or a bad fuel sensor?

First question is where are you buying gas? 93 octane is $2.40 a gallon here.

10 bones = 4.16 gal

You have an 18 gal tank the last 3.5 gallons = empty on the gauge.

Top of the tank from dead on the bottom line (empty) and you should add aprox 13.5 gal

13.5 gal/4 = 3.375 gal/per gauge mark. (i.e if you add 3.375 gal in a Legend you should go up 1/4 of a tank.

answer me this question, I'm a geek

Question: Cargo is being loaded into a shipping container so that the container is being filled at the rate of approximately 2,000 cubic meters per hour. If the empty container is 40 meters long, 10 meters wide, and 30 meters deep, approximately how many hours does it take to fill the container?

ive asked this once before and the answer was not accurate. you say an 18 gallon tank, when my light comes it is said there is about 2 gallons left in the tank. i filled up and got 14 and some change in it(thats gallons). then i was told i wouldnt know unless i ran out completely, so when the light cam on i drove about 28 miles after that, 27.8 to be exact, and when i filled up i got just over 16 and that was a squeeze also, so where is the 18 coming in at? im going to use 16.5 even tho i have never come close to it, but 16.5 and up i have never received when getting gas.

and yes my mileage sucks, so figuring this one out, along with why i get crappy mileage would be great. i can drive like miss daisy, or mario and it still rings up about the same.

yo biggs... the reason is because there is a lotttttttttttttt of dirt and debris settling at the bottom of the tank. If you ever drop a tank on a old car like ours you will notice a lot of a sand like substance at the bottom. this is one of the main reasons why it is not good to drive on empty because you will be sucking up all that dirt.

so are you saying the dirt is taking up gallon space? i only drove it done to bare bones because i had to prove what i was saying, even though changing a fuel pump is not hard in this car it was hard on my other vehicles and it would always go when it was full, so i try to stay at half tank and no lower than a 1/4, to help it out.

thinking about what you said tho, how would you go about cleaning a tank once you drop it? what would you use to clean the inside, what else could you do with the inside to maybe help it out since it is old?

that is my theory because on my first car which was a 92 buick lesabre the fuel pump had went bad and the gas tank had to come out. After the tank was drained we noticed a build up of dirt which look like sand settling at the bottom. It looked like i could fill up a couple of bags with it too. yea so the reason why its not good to drive around on low fuel is because 1) you will sucking up a lot debris settling at the bottom and 2) you run the risk of damaging the fuel pump because it has to work extra hard on empty.

if any disagree's with my assumption please do so... its always good to learn something new.

mine is off too, i was down to 1/8-1/4 tank and put in 11.858 gallons, so i still had a little over 1/3 a tank left but it was showing it lower.
