Default Shift cable adjusting tips

I had a kind of hard day yesterday. I drove about 2 blocks away to get gas, started the car, and even when it would show "drive", it would be in reverse. I had to drive in reverse all the way back home. I have the center console taken apart and took out the retaining clip. But, I'm not exactly sure of what I have to do. Any suggestions? I would really like to drive "normally" to work tomorrow.......thanks.

Ray.

Is it always in reverse regardless of shifter position? Did your shift cable break?

No the cable isn't broken. I found a bracket next to the transmission that isn't connected. I messed with it for 3 hours and still couldn't do it so it is going to the pepboys I work at tomorrow morning.

You must've mood either the shifter inside the car or the prnd switch when you were working on it. Put the selector in park inside the car. Put the prndl switch al the way in park. Connect your cable to the switch and then connect the bracket to the transmission. You should be done. If you still have problems, check to see if you have play in the cable. You need 2 people for this.
Good luck.
