Default obx headers length?

I wanted how long the obx headers are compared to the stock exhaust manifolds with pre-cats still attached. If they are shorter I can always make a pipe to make up for the missing piece to the stock type2 y-pipe.
That's why I ask.

The headers are not only shorter but they come out at different angles and positions than the stock pre-cats.

Is it possible to fit the factory cat with the OBX headers+y-pipe? I need to pass SMOG in CA and looking for some extra ponies Don't believe the high-flow will pass,

Yes. The factory cat does fit. However you still loose the precats but iirc they guys pass smog with this setup

In California, this will greatly depend on where you go.

As of January 1, 2013, you must go to a Star Certified Station for cars made before 1996. A shop (in theory) received Star Certification by demonstrating over the last year or two that they are consistently performing the Smog check with fidelity (including the visual, gas cap, and pressure test sections). If you go to a shop that is going very much "by the book", the headers and lack of precats alone are enough to be an automatic fail.

In an attempt to curtail smog techs passing cars that shouldn't be passing (i.e. turning a blind eye, clean piping, etc), CARB has implemented a policy that if you pass now with Smog Tech "A", and then in your next Smog check (when selling the car or at the biannual registration mark) you go to Smog Tech "B" and he fails your car, Smog Tech "A" will get dinged for it. Why? Because for some reason, if you failed this latest test, then you should have failed the previous test as well (??). That's the logic and it's little more than blatant strong arming of the smog techs to fail as many cars as possible for the littlest reasons...if only to protect themselves.

hgeez: <---- this emoticon doesn't quite cover how ridiculous this has become.

That's the biggest complaint of the techs. What if a car legitimately passes, but the owner doesn't take care of the car over the next two years? Yup, they still get dinged.

Yeah the "idea" is to keep track of the techs that are churning out cars that pass but then later fail. The techs actually have a "score" that is monitored by either CARB or the BAR (I forget which). Apparently if you dig down just a little, you'll find that the system is set up to have them maintain their score (no gain, but no loss either) by....you guessed it....failing cars.
