Real Name: Brett | Help! MT vs. AT wiring harness: what's different?

I might have gotten myself in a sticky situation again. I'm in the middle of installing a 6 speed GS wiring harness into my AT Legend L. Why will this not work?

Because its not designed to work. Which portion of the harnesss are you trying to swap in.

anything under dash won't have the proper connections/wiring you need to operate the automatic chassis.

All of it. I think I'm screwed at this point though. I should have read into it more first

here's what i can offer from what i've learned about swapping full harnesses from MT to AT chassis. since this is still theoretical (i haven't tried to do this on a real car yet), people with actual experience in this can either verify or call BS on my theories AT's and MT's have differing engine & main harnesses, L vs. LS have differing ones as well, and each year from 93-95 changed certain circuits in the harnesses, including connectors. i haven't looked into the specifics of a GS harness but my guess is it's unique to GS models (or it's nearly identical to a 6MT LS coupe from the same year). trying to swap a GS harness into an L chassis would require at a minimum swapping the front section of the main harness as well as the engine harness, as certain connectors on both of those harnesses are larger than their counterparts on a lower-trim model. you may have to do more than engine/main but you can determine that from the electrical manual. since you haven't given much info about what specific harness(es) you are trying to install or what body style you have (i'm guessing sedan), i don't know if this really helps much. if it's a sedan, i think your options for a close match are limited since they didn't make a 6MT sedan except for GS. you might be able to get away with using 5-speed L-model harnesses from a 95 to get the right match of most everything, but that's just a guess. i'm not sure those were even made but the G2 FAQ says they were so that might be an option. i just saw your other thread about the auto CC swap...to do the harnesses for an MT swap, as i said you will need the engine and main harnesses as well as the dash harness for the auto CC.
