So I called nielo acura a local dealer to price my timing belt water pump gasket and tensioner the guy.tells me 487.xx so I'm like ok I'm just checking prices and seen someone on ebay selling the genuine oem kit for 315.xx he instantly says ok I can do it.for.312.xx so wtf really.what's that.about why not give your customer the lowest price possible the.first.time? It makes me wonder is there actually bad acura dealers out there ? That's irritating. Just my thoughts

unfortunatly, the parts business doesn't work that way. its all about the highest mark up possible. his job is to sell it and make the most on it as possible.

HAHAHAHAH REALLY? You really think this doesn't happen ALL of the time.
MSRP = Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price All parts and cars have an MSRP, but the dealerships do not have to use these prices. Than can charge an infinite amount more than what is suggested. As long as some person, who has no idea what they are doing, buys the parts and cars from them. I've been told, by a person who worked at a tire shop, make sure to call and pretend that you are asking around for prices. Otherwise, if you go into a tire place, they feel that you NEED the tires and they make sure to take advantage of that by charging more than the MSRP. In addition, a Hyundai dealership charges $1495 for Door Edge Guards installed. Even though you could just go to a parts store and pay $8 for a roll that will cover all four door edges. You really think that dealerships don't try to take advantage of customers? |

When I started pricing oem stuff to restore the GS, I searched everywhere. I wanted to get everything at once rather than piece by piece. Acura of Lynnwood charged me $315 for the entire kit (wp, tb, all drive belts, and t-stat gaskets) My local dealer wanted $300 just for the water pump, then $22 for each drive belt and $60 for the timing belt. Then they charged me $20 for coolant. Definitely shop around.

yeah when i got coolant from the dealer it was 20 bucks i wish i knew how to talk them down ha ha all my drive belts are new and my thermostat is new and the gasket is new. i did find a good price on the head gasket set felpro for 207 from parts geek.com cheapest i found maybe ill talk to one of the honda employees that come in my work and see if they can get me cost. i need the water pump the gasket the tensioner and timing belt. my felpro comes with timing cover gaskets. they also have koyo aluminium radiators at parts seek for 120 something like that. i found parts geek is pretty cheap. the acura guy wanted to charge me 72 for the timing belt and 220ish for the water pump the cheapest thing was the water pump gasket at 90 cents lol i think he wanted around 100 for the tensioner. oh and is lynwood acura the one that works with us. i mean so far im at 315 with drive belts and 312 without. so i might as well go 315 and keep the drive belts for a rainy day.

You'll find that if you give a dealer the opportunity, they will price match. Find an online Acura dealer, get their price, then take that to your dealer and they should honor it. I always try to buy from the dealer if possible (and cost effective) to maintain a relationship with parts and service - you never know when you'll need a favor.

Classic dealer situation, you'll find that most will be happy to price match and some wont, hence there is always that reputation of them being the "most expensive". I bet it was nice to have them price match the E-bay listing, saves a lot of wait time, and shipping!
