Default Someone else paint scratched on your car?

Simple solution for those of you who have somehow managed to get either another cars paint scratched on your own or if u happend to hit a yellow stopper. here's what can an will remove this problem,
NAIL POLISH REMOVER!
it will take off that nasty yellow or what ever other color scratched on ur car. just add the polish remover to a cloth an rub. will not mess up clear coat if done properly. also it don't take care of deep scratches those will stay but that ugly paint will be gone

Wouldn't rubbing compound be the first thing to try? Isn't nail polish remover more harsh and abrasive than rubbing compound? Usually you want to try the least abrasive thing first and then move up if you don't get the desired results. I've been able to rub off a lot of scuffs and paint from other things using rubbing compound.

ya rubbing compound will work but this is for those who don't have the time or money to go out and get these things, pretty much it's a simple alternative. and it ain't harsh on the paint at all I used this method on several family cars an also some customers without any dulling of clear coat

Clay bar works very well, as does paint thinner. After paint transfer removal it is imperative that you polish and wax the surface immediately after. You should NEVER use an acetone based nail polish remover!!! It will remove paint and clear coat! Acetone free nail polish is safe in moderation, but I wouldn't use it. Wash the surface, clay the spot, use paint thinner on to remove wax and left over paint, rubbing compound, polish, and wax is how I would do it. It's alot of work but looks great in the end.

I carefully used paint thinner for a scrape on the Legend a few years ago - took the transfer right off.

paint thinner works fine on catalized paint like most cars are. Most of the time this means paint sprayed through a paint gun. If you are just removing a paint transfer, you often time wont use enough to ruin your paint, its if you let it sit and pool that you have to start worrying about it.

I've done the nail polish remover trick years ago the first time. Some chump hit my car in the transmission shop parking lot. I came outside just to see the vehicle leaving the scene before I saw he hit my door. He put a nice red mark on my white door and black door guard. The white door wasn't a problem but there was a mark left in the black door guard (although not paint nor from the polish remover). I didn't keep the car much longer but I was truly annoyed when I realized why they were creeping out of the parking lot.
