 Signal cabling (ie. RCA and speaker) on the passenger side, power on the driver side is my vote.

 i said tap into this location because the op was talking about tapping to the front speakers and it would eleviate either long rca's or running long speaker wire. where im referring to for the tap, it doesnt interfere with the power cable issue(whine) as this is where i tapped my oem wiring before i re-wired my car, and true splitting the power from the other wires is the way to go.
