Yea.. I should have seen that coming.. I was possibly thinking about going for a bare metal look, but since there's a little bondo here and there (seems like PO was deleting the rear bumper), my second choice would have to be olive drab green. I just have to find where the hell I can buy spray cans of it locally for some $7 a pop or less so I can get to work! Also, since it is stripped, this would be the time to do some rust protection to the undercarriage. Since this is a budget project, por15 is out of the question. I was thinking some sort of bed liner but not sure how well that stuff would hold up through time.

Not sure if I can pull it off since there's bondo in some spots.

This is what gave me the idea for that bare metal look. I think this guy used diesel fuel in order to protect the metal from rust, but that only lasts so long until you have to give it another go around. |

Oh sweet baby jesus.. I think I just found my home grown drab green color. Quote:
So I'm thinking. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleu...2#.Uce3p_nU-gw + http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleu...3#.Uce4lfnU-gw OR http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleu...4#BVRRWidgetID + http://www.homedepot.com/p/Klean-Str...stomer_reviews OR http://www.homedepot.com/p/Klean-Str...2#.Uce5rfnU-gw = Less than $40 taxes included. I have an old but hopefully useable spray gun from harbor freight that I can possibly work with. I think this should be able to cover the whole car and then some.

Don't mind this ramble, just some notes to self.. Clean/test gun, test system: Acetone, shoot on masking paper. Inline water trap needed. |

So I spent the afternoon cleaning/practicing on the 2 spray guns I've had for some years now. They're both some no name HB specials, 1 all metal construction bottom feed gun and 1 gravity feed. If all goes well I'll be laying down some paint on the shell tomorrow! So damn nervous of how it'll come out!
