Default Coupe is back on the road with confidence

Clutch master cylinder started leaking in September (coupe) and had it swapped in with a Centric branded one in time to take the trip to Wichita NALM. About 2/3’s the way there the clutch starts to slip. Made it up there by using a featherweight pressure on gas pedal.

Anyhow just picked up coupe at shop today and I’m back in the saddle like it’s always been. Figured it’s better to try something on a smaller scale rather than source a new clutch kit with complications looming over it with aged exhaust system in the way.

Credit to Blake for advising me his coupe had the same issue with a Centric master cylinder and it was solved by swapping the Centric with an Acura OEM master cylinder. Credit to Jimmy for supplying the OEM master cylinder BNIB.

I had a Honda Prelude (2001 generation) new OEM slave cylinder swapped with the old original slave with SS steel braided hose connecting directly to the master cylinder, bypassing the damper. All the bypassed parts were removed (holding in my garage).

The clutch pedal was awful with the Centric branded master cylinder, too high in the release for my taste. The resulting fix restored the clutch pedal feel that I had been used to, much lower to the floor and relaxing lifting your foot off of it.

Anyhow, most importantly, no clutch “slippage” running systems at operating temperatures, stop and go, and on highways cruising and entering at acceleration.

Here’s the forum link to Abe’s 2012 post:

https://acuralegend.org/showthread.p...aster+cylinder

PS - it may not be correct to blame everything on the Centric since I also changed the slave cylinder and removed the damper and associated hoses at the same time.

Glad to see you got all of that resolved Eric. I had heard about the issues there at NALM as I had been checking in with Blake and a few others while you all were there in Kansas.
