What up legend fam. I was recently gifted some 20 inch wheels and I'm running into a problem with my rear fenders rubbing the tires slightly. I've since done some research and it seems like most everyone has gone with rolling the fenders but I am unsure if that is the best course of action to take. I only need about 1/2 to clear the tires and don't want to try a different wheel size since the ones I have were a gift but I don't want to do anything stupid with my car either. Any thoughts????

I'm in the aftermath of rolled rear fenderwells on 2 of my cars now, both have chipped/rusted areas because the paint cracked off after being flexed. If you roll them at least get someone to put some good caulk, sealer and paint on the areas that get folded under.

I had the inner lip cut. Didn't want to fuk up my paint. Much safer way to go.

Anytime you do any cutting or rolling of the fender, you should be treating it. Ideally that inner lip should be cut out otherwise it rolls under and acts like a rain gutter for water and road debris/grime.
Rich is right, you should be using some type of paint or caulk inside that lip if you dont cut it out, even if you cut it, it needs to be treated otherwise it will rust, and lets face it, any Jap car built in this time era has rust issues eventually, so proper car and preventative care is needed. As far as drop in fenders, sadly they dont make any that just drop in, it would require custom modding an existing set, or custom modding your fender.

Ok sounds good I'm thinking about going with cutting the lip then pulling the fender so I can totally clear my tires with of course doing a seal treatment. Any suggestions on what tool to use for the cutting job??

I'm considering just using a grinder

See what a local small body shop will charge to do the cut job. They might be able to do it cheaper then the damage you could cause with a grinder would cost.
Just a thought. rich

Yeah that could be a good idea. Especially since I'm kinda unsure about the cutting part. I just wanna get all of my options on the table before I go all out

With more thought honestly I'm starting not to like the cutting method just because a possible sharp edge around my tires scares me haha sticking with rolling only might cost me a 1/8 inch but the peace of mind goes way farther.
