91LS 5MT- Phase 3- Supercharged
Ok, I think it's time for everyone to know the reason for all the secrecy .
I'd hoped to wait a little longer, but I'm going to have A LOT of questions regarding how to accomplish this without screwing up my 3.5... qwqwqw! Also, the way I'm going about this, is to allow the same setup to be purchased by other members in the future. Meaning, the brackets, crank pulley, and parts should be able to get pretty easily (not cheap though..lol). My first objective will be to clear a little more room in the engine bay. The wiring mess here will be tucked, along with the fan relay being moved just behind the headlight, or somewhere around there. I removed the windshield washing fluid reservoir, considering it didn't work anyway... heh. The coolant overflow is there now. A few teaser shots of how everything will be going. Thanks to Rob, Like_no_other, I have some spare piping to play around with, and a decent mustang "roto-molded" intake. The extension tube on the vortech supercharger will be removed, so the pulley will be closer to the blower. So my rough alignment, I'm using the lip of the blower head unit, just along the edge of the alternator pulley. For the crank pulley, you may have noticed, I put in for Telion's aluminum one. However, mine will be slightly different than everyone else's . It'll have an additional 6-rib section after the alternator section. No picture yet, but as soon as it is produced and installed, I'll post up! Bracket The bracket seems to be the hardest part thusfar, so I'm making a mock-up in 1/2 foam board. In the end, I should be able to use 1/2 steel or aircraft aluminum (whichever is more available for a good price). The bracket will be a three-piece... 1.) Rear main bracket will have several mounting points and be welded to the alternator bracket for support. 2.) Blower unit bracket. I wanted it separate so I could swap out head units later if I wanted to upgrade, and only change that part of the bracket out. 3.) Tensioner and Idler pulley bracket. Will sit on top of the main bracket. This is just the main bracket I started this weekend, please excuse the roughness. All details will be worked out soon. I will be deleting the top lip that goes to the top timing cover bolt hole. A curved bracket will take it's place. The Outlet of the s/c was rubbing against it, preventing it from going on correctly. I'm also going to delete the lower most bolt that goes into the motor mount bracket. If I used that bolt, I wouldn't have air conditioning . I've made up for the lost bolt though, by deciding to weld directly to the alternator bracket. i can also clear a little more room around the alternator tensioner so I can actually take off the alternator belt..heh. First attempt: Second attempt: Still rough cut. Here's a pic of the first day I got the package from Rob.. just messing around, but you can see the intake in this one, so I'll post up. Well, there you have it, where I'm going with all this craziness. Deadline is July 26th . The body will more than likely still look like shit, but this will make up for it! Original drawing of how the 3 brackets will work. Of course, it's completely different now..lol, but you'll have a better idea.
