Smile Advice: Remanufactured Engine Purchase

I have a 1993 Acura Legend L coupe and my engine is shot. I don't want a used engine and want to replace the current C32A1 with a remanufactured engine same model. I would appreciate any advice on who/where to purchase a good reman with a good warranty at a decent price?

Well I don't of ANYONE that stocks REMANUFACTURED Legend 3.2 original engines. Below are a couple of companies to inquire about. Honestly I suspect VERY FEW of us go looking for a remanufactured 3.2 engine as we know their inherent weaknesses. More often then not guys either go for a low mileage 3.2 C32A engine from Japan (used engine) or swap over to a 1996 - 2004 Acura RL 3.5 C35A engine. Those are also USED engines and are rather plentiful since those cars were produced for SO long. Mileage and cost on them vary pretty drastically so shop around.

He Mad Scientist,
C
Thank you for the advice. I did my research and noted the issues with the C32A but thank you for pointing that out to me. Full disclosure, I did a RL engine hybrid swap 5-yrs ago 2004 RL engine. Eventually the engine needed valve seals and piston rings. I'm not a mechanic, took it to a guy who is a mechanic apparently not a good one and he replace the valve seals and when he replaced the piston rings the idiot didn't use the factor psi measurements to torque down the journals and bearings. The crank and bearings are destroyed, he locked up the engine so needless to say I am not happy. I guess I will be looking for another used 2004 RL engine. I appreciate your help.

Interesting that the engine needed piston rings. I've had my modded 3.5 RL engine now since 2013 and the pistons (lower half) of the engine have never needed tinkering with. I am having some issues with having been given the 3.5 camshafts INSTEAD OF the Type II camshafts and so the heads that have been in storage which I have the machine shop do including brand new valve stems will have to be disassembled so the Type II camshafts (that I fortunately retrieved before those "disappeared" with some other parts I had in storage and reassembled likely resulting in needing new valve seals again. Sadly some of the mechanics that are doing the work aren't so reliable NOR TRUSTWORTHY when it comes to these old Legends. I'm actually considering what kind of expense will it be for me to send my heads this time to BOTH a trustworthy and reliable Legend enthusiast who is on this forum! Shipping heads from Alabama to Minnesota will NOT BE inexpensive. To be fair though the local shop did EXACTLY what I requested be done. Unfortunately I wasn't aware that the parts given me to take to the machine shop were "incorrect".

P.S. Chaka is my "government name" and most if not all the OGs that still visit around here KNOW me so feel free to call me Chaka. Not to mention The Mad Scientist persona/antics I from time to time engage in. I mean just look at the picture to the left of this post!

^^My man Chaka talking about me. I have numerous 3.5 blocks and type 2 engines ready to be rebuilt and taking up space. There are no trustworthy places that do this kind of work any more really. I have seen brand "new" crate rebuilds from well respected national places not work right on install. Also of note I have been talking with a place because you literally cannot rebuild an engine right now because we are missing parts. We literally can't get them. I am currently buying up or trying to find N.O.S. parts. I also know how to properly crate and ship an engine as well. I was an ASE tech and have a degree as a CNC machinist and programmer.

Anyone wanting engines rebuilt or heads redone RIGHT...reach out to me and I will get back to you.

My current engine is a custom 11:1 compression 3.5L that I need reground camshafts to run right. I can build a similiar motor using more OEM parts for less as well.

Any rebuild done right(minus the engine core) is going to cost you $4000 just in parts. NO JOKE. I am serious. Not even my labor. Valves, guides, pistons, rings, honing, bearings, gaskets, you name it. However I work with people. X amount every month, and I take pictures of what I complete to move on to next step. This allows someone to save up in advance of next stage of completion. * You can minus for pistons and cam springs so maybe $3000.

This is not to dis-way you , this is just the numbers that most people don't know because they get the head work done one month...then something else later and never add it all up.
