I don't think this makes a difference. The car is designed to reduce the performance of the engine to compensate for lower octane fuel if that's all that is available.
I've had to put 87 in my car a few times when 91 was not available, no major problems in the long term. I don't know if constantly running lower octane fuel will cause problems though. Quote:

I'm curious to get folks' thoughts on this. The owner mentions he changed the radiator, thermostat and hoses. I imagine he did all this after it started overheating. The mileage is so low. I'm wondering if it overheated and then blew, opposite of what normally happens. |
