Default Pulling Codes (CEL/ABS/TCS/D4/DPMS)

And finally, the first WikiDIY thread is here, the first of what will hopefully be many new DIYs. This was written specifically for the wiki to work out a clean format and layout for future WikiDIYs. It is a topic that has a few other guides already, but none of them as comprehensive as this one.

Locate ECU Connector
It is a two-pin female connector, with black and yellow wires.
My wires are black and white.
Just wanted to mention that.

That's already mentioned:

It may be plugged into its cover on the top right of the ECU.

Smile Quick video: how to read your diagnostic codes

Hey guys, today I pulled some codes from my 1993 Acura Legend using a paper clip.

A year ago my cars D4 light started flashing. So I took it to Sears to read the code, but since is older than 1996, they "don't have the code readers" and referred someone else. The mechanic wanted me to make a future appointment at a cost of $100. I already figured the VSS was bad, and would rather replace the $150 part, than pay $100 for being positive.

Today I finally decided to try pulling the codes myself. I didn't realize how easy it was. The check engine light was a 17 and the D4 was a 4. Both refer to the VSS. hahah I was right!

I made a video to help anyone who's more visual and Quaraxkad kindly added it to the bottom of this page:

Thanks for the awesome wiki! Take care,

Pandja

To pull codes use the bobby pin located under the dash just a blue 2 pin connector put the bobby pin into the connector that look at the check engine light I flash long means 10 and regular flashes means 1 so let's say you get 1 long flash and 3 regular flashes means code 13....
