Hmm so all of this is what happens when "the chip hits the fan" huh? I find all of this fun reading. Now should I get my car built and then obtain Telion's chipped ECU service we can run side by side analysis of them.
I just felt like tossing fuel on the flame!

I'm about to do some dyno testing on factory vs chipped ECUs... I'm having a baseline dyno done today... By "baseline" I'm talking about the car as it sits today...
Type II, 5 speed transmission, Greddy cat back exhaust, short ram intake, and a Walbro 485lph fuel pump. Everything else OEM and close to 30 years old. Car was not running a few weeks ago when I bought it. It currently has a stage 3 chip (so it was written in sharpie). Next week when some more parts come in, I will do a dyno/mod day. I'll compare factory ECU vs "chipped", then first mod is removing the cat for a test pipe and comparing both ECU's again. Then I'll proceed with changing out the fuel filter and a cold air intake and getting more comparison dynos. I'll see if combination of mods and ecu's change the gain values. There has been discussion that "some" chipped ECU's in fact make less power. This could be due to the tune itself, or the mismatch of mods based on how the tune was created. I should be able to provide more insight after doing this dyno day.

So there wasn't much of a peak horsepower gain with the ECU, however it did make more power through the band. Unfortunately I only got to save one of the dyno charts because my shop's laptop died and I didn't get the comparison side by side. It made 217.7 @ 6100 rpm and 203.9 @ 5100 rpm. I'll continue to test, tune, and dyno. I'll be posting more updates in a few weeks.

You need about 2 liter per minute fuel flow into the engine for approx 400 flywheel hp. There are approx 60 minutes per hour. You may be somewhat overspecced on the fuel pump.
