1987 ACURA LEGEND COUPE LS
FOR SALE
1987 ACURA LEGEND COUPE LS (this is the first year the coupe was produced) ================================= Not perfect, not close to those who understand perfect. This car has been driven 216,000 miles. I bought it one-owner used (bank repo) in 1992 with 91,000 miles on it. At that time, it still looked and drove like a new car. A few years ago, 3-5, many components were replaced. Since then, the car has been driven less than 1,000 miles. It has basically been parked. I literally put over $5,000 worth of components and repairs into this car at that time. (I was thinking I'd be keeping it, using it and maintaining it for quite awhile. Was planning a full restoration. That was before I became old and ill). To that time, I had been driving this car 100 miles/day to/from work. Really hate to part with it. I love this car. But, I'm having to move to a downsized home that cannot support it. And, I'm too frail now to perform any maintenance. It has to go. Thought this forum would have someone who could love it as much. Here's what's been done: Michelin Tires Air Conditioning Compressor + Drying Tube and hoses (conversion to R234a) Alternator (OEM) Battery Starter Motor w/Solenoid Muffler Brakes (done earlier, probably good life left on pads, but hoses should be done soon) Full leather interior replaced (yeah, like new condition) Side and back window tinting replaced, ceramic 50% Many front end parts replaced. Ball Joints, Tie-Rod ends and the sway bar straddlers. Rear bumper, trunk end, interior trunk joint repainted. Replaced Oil Pan and gasket, along with valve cover and side valve cover gaskets, and the Distributor O-Ring. All by Honda Dealer. Had pretty bad oil leak. Determined to be caused by "Quick-Change Artist" replacing original oil plug with oversized plug at oil change place. Most the leaking was from the plug. Had to replace oil pan to fix. Other gaskets had begun to seep. Timing Belt, Tensioner and Water Pump replaced @ 160,000 Thermostat replaced quite awhile ago. Here's what is known as not working on this car: Windshield Wipers (needs full cross-members in wiper trough, Not a motor or contol issue. The connection between one of the ball joints in the linkage broke. Can't seem to be repaired, must find replacement linkage.) Radio Antenna does not retract. Non-OEM retractable replacement used. New antenna became kinked, retractable unplugged in UP position. Have OEM antenna which works, but the staff is bent/broken. Also have replacement staff for OEM antenna, just not installed. The #5 vacuum hose connection to the Thermovalve is plugged due to the plastic bib for the hose on Thermovalve being broken off. Believe this interrupts water flow to the Fast Idle Control Valve, but not sure. Makes Idle pulsate once warmed. Fast Idle works at startup. The Thermovalve is located on the drivers' side of the engine block, below the trottle body. Never have been able to figure out what's causing the Radiator Cooling Fans to not run unless the A/C is running. The dual fans work fine, just will not run unless the A/C is ON. The Fan Control Unit (FCU) seems fine last checked, think it was actually replaced. Also replaced the Water Temperature Sensor at the back bottom edge of the radiator, next to the drain valve. No effect. The Driver's Side front Turn Signal Lense is wired on, plastic attachment clips have broken off. The Driver's rear Side window is fixed into the UP position by placement of a small Vice-Grip Plyer on the cord system behind the panel. A small vinyl guide piece became brittle and broke, causing the window to fall down into body. Clamped it up in place, and unplugged window motor. The Rear Window Defroster is gone, so does not work. It came off when old tint removed and replaced. Fix would require replacement rear window and matching tint. The front end suspension has a rattle that has not been identified. Most parts are new replacments. Something is not tight or was racked and loosened up. Ball Joints, Tie Rod Ends are new. The Water Temperature Gauge on the instrument cluster recently failed. Just noticed as I prepped for this sale that the A/C is warm. There must be a slow leak of some kind in the replaced connections. It took quite awhile to leak out. A new charge might be expected to hold awhile, a season as a guess, or fix leak. If someone is looking for a good start on a restoration, this might be the car for you. The car is Pearl White with the dark grey lower side. Beige leather interior. Automatic, 2.7L V6, 160hp. Bose Stereo/Cassette, heated side mirrors, radar detector. Fun car. Best offer will be accepted. [NOTE: Tried to post pic, but said I exceeded quota by 81.9KB, on a 92K JPG file. "View Attachments" says there are none. Help me post pics.]

I believe the sales price question was asked because due to forum rules prices have to be listed on items for sale. The moderators may be inclined to remove the thread due to it not having a price and I have seen that done before (many of us old schoolers have ). Just my observations sir.

1987 Legend Coupe LS
I see, thanks for pointing that out. I was not aware.
With that, I'll come up with an amount and post tomorrow. As you may discern from the description, I'm fully aware I'd never be able to achieve parity for all that's been done. That's why I'm inclined to offer it to members here, those who could at least appreciate the car. Not planning on making anything. In fact, I'm all but certain it would represent a loss by any measure. Thanks for the help. Quote:

OK, I've decided I'd accept $3,000 as a Buy-It-Now price, or consider best offer.
