Recommend me a good mechanic?
Hi guys,
Just picked up my dream car the legend gs but of course you know the deal with the engines at this late stage. BHG with about 209k miles; typical right? So I'm considering swapping the engine to a 3.5 rl or just redoing the head gasket, whichever makes the most sense. Can you guys refer me to someone that does good work for a fair price? Thanks! |

First off, welcome to the forum. Yup, BHG are pretty typical on our cars. Where are you located? I've done this job plus more a few times with no issues.

Welcome to the fam! As mentioned where are you located? Jonslegend here in the Southeast has done a number of 3.5 swaps. Not all Legends have BHG at that mileage or age. Mine had 280K with no issues.

If you are in any way mechanically inclined or have tools available, you can do this job yourself. It's not terribly hard and there are a lot of good build threads and plenty of guys here that can help you along the way. Good Luck!! Do some quick searches on the forums and see what you come up with. If you have questions, let me know. Last edited by Aking; 07-29-2013 at 02:07 PM. |

Welcome to the forum. Go 3.5 man. You will be glad you did. And as Aking said it's not terribly hard if you have a daily driver so you can take your time and the patience to read a frew swap threads a few times until you are ready to dig in and GET'r DONE!!!

thanks you guys!
Men who otherwise cannot get along seem to bond well over cars. These communities inspire to bring the best out of people, even. I did get in touch with a forum member, though! Hopefully we can get her crackin again. |

Nice! I probably would have never attempted a job like this if I wouldn't have found this forum!
