Default More power for race engine

We have completed 2 Lemons races with our '88 sedan. It is fast and does well on track. Currently it is lowered with stiff springs in front and cut springs in back, but soft Tokico struts. One cylinder is burning a quart of oil every 2 hours. We are going to pull the engine and rebuild it. To add a little more power my plan is to do something similar to Taylor did on his Blue '87 sedan (http://forums.acuralegend.org/legend...highlight=head).

Engine Recipe:

1. P&P'd C27A4 intake manifold w/ 76 mm throttle body (thanks to Taylor)
2. OBX headers (thanks to Taylor)
3. C25A cams, dual valve springs, and retainers
4. Shave head, 0.08 in (seems like a lot)
5. Deck block (not sure about this)
6. B16 ARP head studs (2x kits needed)
7. Bore to next size
8. 170 degree thermostat
9. Cold air box
10. Delete power steering

What do y'all think?

It sound like a lot to do with minimal power gain. Natural Aspirated power gains isnt much without a proper tune. I've boosted my c27a1 with proper tune and it's very satisfying I can tell you that, so don't waste your time.

I've done most what you listed to my C27A1. What I did to my engine:
First stage of over size piston.
C27A4 crankshaft
Decked block and cylinder heads (don't remember how much)
Cold Air Intake
Aluminum crank pulley
OBX headers
High Flow CAT
Back of CAT to muffler, 2.5" piping
Resonator delete
Stromung muffler

With all that, I'm pushing 180 hp, 185 tq. I still need to install the C27A4 intake manifold.

Why use the C27A4 crankshaft? Is there any difference between C27A1 and C27A4 crank?

When I was rebuilding my engine, I ordered a rebuilt crankshaft since the block that I bought had a worn down sleeve where the connecting rod goes on the crankshaft. When I got it, I didn't realize it was a C27A4 when I went to try to install the crankshaft pulley. The threaded hole was much bigger than the C27A1. Also when I got the crankshaft, all they wrote on it was C27. So I'm not sure if it made a difference on performance.

My C27 in the blue car made 205 with the same mods. There was more room for improvement.

Check your email Mike.

TJcars2 and mk7 we race an 87 coupe on the east coast. We rebuilt our motor as well but stayed with stoke bore and cam. Run a lot stronger but not sure of exact numbers. TJcars2, would love to know what you did to get 205. Message me please.
