Want to go after market deck and speakers but stuck with the 2ohms Bose 2100 system? Don't let some smchuck at Best Buy tell you it's impossible and dont let a "professional" installer tell you that it will take $200 and a complete "rewiring" of your car...
A simple search here will reveal that simply bypassing the Bose amp will allow you to utilize the stock wiring and use an aftermarket deck and speakers at 4 ohms impedance. However, many write ups will suggest that you do something like this: ![]() Now theres absolutely nothing wrong with this method as it works just the same, however you have now deleted your harness plugs... So rather than cutting and connecting the wires on your stock harnesses at the amp, I thought I'd post up this alternative that allows you to go Plug and Play with your Bose external amp wiring...thus allowing you to return to the stock Bose if you should ever want to (like when selling the car, etc.)... This is very easy. You will need: ~The stock plugs off of the Bose Amp...you can get these easily at the junkyard, or, if your stock amp is dead or dying, you can clip them from there if you wish (youd have to replace the amp anyhow if you ever go back to stock) ![]() ~A Honda Stereo Harness Plug adapter...THESE can be found anywhere...they are a dime a dozen at the junkyard and they are also availble on Ebay for like $5 shipped or even Wal*Mart carries them for about $7. ![]() ~Lastly, you need some way to connect the three harness plugs...I am a firm believer in soldering and shrink wrapping, but some people are okay with just twisting wires and wrapping in black tape...just make sure its secure and safe!! Because of how small the wires will be after clipping them from the donor amp, you may find it much easier to pull the pins out of the harness plugs to strip the wires...to do this, pry up on the white plastic piece from the sides using a micro screwdriver... ![]() Then lift it out... ![]() Then, using the micro screwdriver again, move the lock tab down (circled in red) to release the individual pin and the pull the pin out from the back... ![]() Here's how you will connect the wires: Harness A (Large, White Adapter Plug...you will only be using the top row) Harness B (Large Brown Plug) Harness C (Smaller Brown Plug) Wire on Harness A..............Harness B...........Harness C Purple.....................Yellow Green.....................Purple Blue.......................Green Red.........................Red Yellow............................................ ..Green Orange............................................ ..Red White............................................. .Yellow Gray.............................................. ..Purple I'd highly recommend doing them one pin at a time so that you don't forget where they go. Also, on the larger brown plug you can pull the center pins and leave them out because they will not be used....only the side ones. You can also see that I pulled the pins from the white adapter harness...this is not necessary as you can simply cap off unused pins, but I pull mine just for the hell of it...I have so many of these Honda adapters lying around ![]() So after you have them all soldered and wrapped up, you'll get something like this: ![]() Repeat the process for the other plug ![]() So here you are...plug and play ![]() ![]() Tuck it away safe, put your back seat back in, install whatever the hell you want and enjoy your 4 ohms! ![]() |

Let me get this str8, the adapter plug from walmart, the same one that goes behind the radio, is whats used for the plug and play.

Yup...that plugs into the leads from the HU, then the two little plugs go to the "out" plugs going to each of the speakers...

Preciate u Gabe. Now I gotta figure out how to remove the back seat. Or is that necessary.
Edit: Also is it possible since these wires run str8 to the speakers, to run the wires from the brown harnesses to an amp and have those aftermarket speakers powered by an aftermarket amp through the factory wiring. Seems like instead of hooking up the speaker wires thru the Wal Mart harness. I can splice some longer wires to an amp and then connect the brown harnesses back. If I can run an aftermarket headunit with rca cables for inputs on speakers and sub, I think it'll work. What bout u Last edited by G2BMC; 06-12-2009 at 03:37 AM. |

Yeah its not too hard...just takes a little bit of time is all. I'd just rent a movie to pass the time.
I don't have the parts right now, so see if Reboticon can help you out. If he doesn't have them then I could make a junkyard run ![]() |
