Default Trunk lid holding water

1990 Acura Legend Sedan. When I open the trunk lid all the way after a rain, water runs out at either corner near the velcro flaps. 3 or 4 ounces.

Anyone else have this problem, or know what the cause is, or know how to fix it?

I noticed there is a tiny arched opening in the metal on each side that might be some sort of drain. They are barely bigger than a toothpick. If so, wondering if they got clogged.

I tried to remove the inner liner, but can't figure out how to remove the plastic cover over the trunk latch. Does it just pop off? One side came loose easily but I'm hesitant to apply too much force to the other side.

I wonder how the water is getting in between the outer and inner structure of the lid?

The service manual isn't much help. It's attached anyway.

Did you ever figure out where the water is coming from?

Isn't the badging on the trunk face (LEGEND) bolted on? Could it be getting in thru there?

Going from memory... that plastic around the trunk latch has plastic tabs that are staked into clips in the metal. Use a flat screwdriver to pry gently around the clip area and they'll give way. Sounds like there is a plugged drain. The drain should be the diameter of a pencil.

Haven't figured it out yet.

The badges are stuck on with double sided foam tape.
