My dad owns a ton of E24 6 series, E28 5 series, and 4 2002s haha. All as project cars. If you look at most of the pics of my car I post up on this site you can see them in the background.
Right now I'm trying to convince him to buy this (or at least go 50/50 on it with me): http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ376358289

Team LR, do you do your work on your bimmer yourself? What major jobs have to you done to it? Just wanted to get a feel on how it is to work on one compared to a Legend.

I used to own a 89 325is coupe, red, 5mt. I loved that car. Had to sell it when I joined the Army.

oh my god, 1200$ for 540?? in my country such price would mean that car looks nice but is a total wreck inside, or maybe you had a deal of your life
![]() 540i is very reliable especially with manual 6 gear trans , don't know much more than that about 540, they are pretty rare in Poland because of very high fuel consumption |

Chiming in once again... to make a long story short, traded the 740iL, got sick of what I traded it for, sold it and picked up this beauty:
![]() '95 540i with 6-speed manual. Ultra-rare car with only about 3,200 made. Only 25 were made in this color. Got it from the original owner's son and besides a wrecked interior it's pretty well kept. It has the most fun factor out of anything I've owned, my old KA8 being second on that list. Even has a factory M-Technic suspension package, and is nearly as quick as the E34 M5, believe it or not. OP, if you can swing it cost-wise and work-wise I'd seriously consider a 6-speed manual conversion. The auto boxes in those are pretty decent(same as the one on my E38), but the M62 feels like it's born to be bolted up to a manual. Do that and I'm pretty sure you'll have a permanent grin on your face. ![]()

^^^ Pretty cool back story... the 540's are always fun to drive because they move pretty quick too but with comfort and ease.
I myself am a fan of the E39 535i Or the round nose era as I call them.
