Guys,
New member here. I have a stock 1995 Acura Legend sedan (L) I found a set of "old school" mesh, staggered EWING rims with the following stats: front: 16x7 + 50 rear: 16x8 + 50 The bolt pattern is 5x114.3 and the center bore is 73mm. My first concern is with the rear width of the rim (8) as it seems that suggested width should not exceed 7 or 7.5. My second concern is the offset of +50 as OEM offset is + 65. I don't want to make any mods to the clearance, so I wonder if +50 will clear the brake caliper and will also not affect the backspacing. Any suggestions or insights are greatly appreciated! Thank you! Looking forward to your replies. |

Well sir the rear wheel is a little on the wide side but I think you'll be okay due to the high offset.
The factory wheel is only 6.5 inches wide so the +65 offset isn't an issue. I've done a considerable amount of wheels on my Legends and the key is not to go with an offset typically lower than a +44/+45 offset on anything wider than 7 inches unless you start dealing with fender rolling (which you say you don't wish to do). Also because you have a 16 inch wheel and not something larger you can also tinker a bit with the sidewall heights. If my memory serves me correctly the stock 16 inch tire is a 215/60 so you can go a bit wider and lower sidewall. Just remember the overall total size difference can alter your speedometer readings. Feel free to use a wheel offset calculator (see here for example: https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/) to get an idea on how changing wheel sizes adjust the fitment. I would of course recommend doing a test fit of the wheel before final installation.

Thank you for the info. You're absolutely right about 8 being a bit wider than recommended. I think I'm going to pass on these wheels just as a precaution and keep looking for yet another set within a 7 mark.
Thanks! |
