The Ultimate G1 JDM Option Resource Thread (56k instant death!)
Credit goes to Willy, who is a constant inspiration, and also the owner of many of the brochures and magazines these photos and scans are taken from. The more I began to study some of these extremely rare options, the more I realize an obvious truth for any non-JDM Legend owner -- we got robbed!
So -- enjoy this epic, pic and scan-heavy thread, with some wonderful and amazing items from days gone by. We'll start with some nice, slightly blurry pictures, since I was a little wired at what I was seeing. First up is an amazing accessories book: Seat covers - don't worry, you'll get to see these much more clearly in just a minute. Floormats Air Refiner Rear window sticker and rear sunshades Optional head units and sound processors From top left: an unidentified container, shifter options, car phone, and trash can Trunk accessories Snow chains (with carrying case) Front/rear sensor system Orange bumper pole Sedan spoiler Sunroof visor and window visors (available in brown tint or blue) Roof racks

Onward! Next, a couple of parts books. These catalogue every Legend part, with diagrams, that you can possibly think of for the KA3, KA5, and KA6. Extensively. I haven't had a chance to look at every page, but think of every rare option out there, and the part number is probably in here. Although, that said, the descriptions are in Japanese, so it takes a bit of squinting to sort it out.
This is a page from the manual. It's the rare C20A intake manifold: Still not entirely sure what the "P" toggle switch is for in the dash. Maybe Steve or Alex have some insight. Always intrigued by the intake runners for the C20A, which are where the throttle body and air intake piping would normally go. Excellent cylinder head cutaway: From the 1985 press launch magazine, some fascinating conceptual art: . . . which ended up as conceptual models that look quite interesting compared to the finished product. Note the one-piece headlight/corner lens piece in the top two pictures, and the unique grille and wraparound turn signal lenses (a feature repeated on the JDM Accord Inspires) in the top photo. That top one might almost have been a coupe, but we don't get a different angle. The bottom pic features "CONCERTO" text where "LEGEND" would normally be, which is taken from another JDM-only Honda model. Interior drawings. The prototype photos on the bottom show a different transition from dash to center console than the finished product. Infrared remote locking, and pointing to the auto headlights sensor. Headlight wipers! Also on EDM Legends. Another full page of options: sound systems including equalizer (top) and preset effects processor (bottom), window rainguards (popularly believed to be JDM options only, but are in fact a USDM option), sedan spoiler, amber fogs, roof racks, trash can (middle right).

C20AT engine bay:
Can't get enough pics of a new Ti Exclusive cockpit! Coupe drifting! Detail on the variable-geometry turbocharger: More concept art: I'm particularly intrigued by this one, with what looks to be more streamlined front end work and red-out taillights: More pre-production models. Looks like on the top right they were testing out the Turbo with the normal hood, but in the end it needed that extra clearance for the plumbing and fan. Dawson pointed out that the car on the bottom right has ACURA on the center cap. At the time of this photo (1988), Acura had been up and running for a few years, so that may explain the Acura cap with Honda grille. Excellent shot of the Exclusive seats/interior: I'm just stunned at all the woodgrain options they had!! Dual-opening front console: Both variations of G1 sedan side by side. An interesting side note is that the 86-88 sedans overseas never had the split headlights like we do here . . . but they had similar taillights. On the interior also, when we did the changeover in 1989, the other markets kept the existing interior design. Dash shot, shows pile mats and -- at the far left -- the optional emergency flare. Mouthwatering studio interior shot, with full woodgrain and chrome on the door panels. Shifter and seats show that it is a coupe. Sorry for the blur, but that's a different style sunroof visor than we have: Sedan spoiler and headlight wipers again: The venerable bumper pole: And of course, one of my all-time favorites . . . the infamous rear climate control! . With opening rear armrest and adjustable rear headrests. Plus, that awesome Gathers double-din head unit.

More!
This could almost be my car in another life . . . a much better, newer life. Notice the TCS switch! Where is Peter Allen at these days? This is his coupe's Japanese alter ego in the snow . Closeup detail of the dual-opening armrest. More on the Gathers stereo, and door panel wood trim. From a German sedan brochure, of note here is the factory Blaupunkt stereo and the headlight washer/wiper switch. EDM seat heater switches in the center console. Sedans there get a storage bin in the rear deck, similar to our coupes.

I'd love to have those dingleberry-trim seatcovers. They look super plush.
