1987 G1 Coupe Part Out Low Miles Performance Upgrades
I am the original owner of an 87 Coupe that was beautiful when it was dropped off at the local Acura dealership in Van Nuys, CA for minor service but shortly there after I get a call from the dealership telling me they have bad news and that my car was rear ended! Hard to fathom that one could ever imagine getting a call from the dealers service department telling you that your car was involved in an accident while the technician was out for a test drive. Well that is exactly what happened to me. Let this be a warning to others to be aware if it does happen, the dealership, at least in California, may tell you that their insurance will not cover the damage. Which is exactly what they said to me and since my car does not blue book for more than $5000 their policy does not cover it and I would have to go after the driver that was responsible. Well this happened 11 years ago and I ended up keeping the car as I had put so much into it and could not bare to see it scraped. I have parted some of the parts out to help keep other cars going so at least there are other people benefiting from the parts. Last edited by AcuraG1Coupe; 07-16-2017 at 05:07 PM. I have all the other original parts should you need anything. If someone wants the whole car let me know.
I am the first owner of a 1987 G1 2.7L automatic Coupe that was hit in the rear that I am parting out. The mileage is 143K. I have Eibach springs, Rebuildable Koni Struts, period correct Linea Sport 15" quality wheels by Crimson with new Yokohama AVS tires and Stromung exhaust all of which are no longer available for this model. Motor, hood, front fenders, front clip, bumper, doors, side view mirrors, antennas, service and owners manuals, sun roof and motor, headliner in tan, brown carpet, rear door panels in brown, gauge cluster in brown, matched lock and key set including door handles, trunk and ignition, headlights (no corners), grill, all glass etc. New parts before the accident include: Axles, all OEM radiator hoses, brake master cylinder, new hood lift shocks & pair of Brembo front brake rotors not installed, replacement transmission etc. All receipts also. have custom Rolls Royce quality wood inserts but the set is no longer complete since some of it got stolen. I have the wrap for the horn which I have never seen another one done like mine. Also have the rear 1/4 panel wood inserts (missing the front door inserts) Last edited by AcuraG1Coupe; 07-16-2017 at 05:35 PM. |

Here is the California Burl Redwood that was all custom made for the car. The one over the steering wheel is likely the only one you will ever see. Amazing work and a testament to the quality and workmanship that sent into producing it. Believe it or not it was made 24 years ago. Unfortunately the set is not complete and I lost touch with the maestro who did the work.
As you can see the center counsel and front door pannel inserts do not match as some Basterd stole them while the car was in the impound yard. That isn't even my stereo so I am sure they took mine a throw their broken one back in my car. That is the same way I got stuck with all of that horrific ripped up leather seating. |
