Default Coupe CFRP sunroof panel is in the works

Here it is in the first stages...

So, I've got it planned out so it will mount into the hole with factory hardware and will replace the entire assembly. It will also allow the headliner to stay in if desired. It will include a drain pan and tie into the factory drain tubes. I've got my headliner and all the sunroof junk out and it was heavy.

Not only will this reduce an estimated 50 lbs of weight, (I haven't weighed it yet) my theory is, this will also lower the center of gravity of the car and improve handling.

This will be made out of 3 layers of 5.7oz 2x2 weave of carbon fiber.

Pricing to be determined.

Looks good! I guess this is a full replacement panel not one that can still open if you wanted?

The original plan was to have some type of hinge so that you could manually tilt it up and lock it in place. At this point I really can't see any way of making that work at this point. In the future, I may be able to do that but cost would increase. Time is also a factor for me completing this one.

Have you considered just modifying the rails so that you can operate it manually? Remove the motor and all the electronics for weight savings.

Yes, but I still need to figure out a way to connect those to the car itself if removed from the sunroof assembly. Having people drill holes in their cars when buying this product is not a goal of mine.
