Anyway, i'm wondering if any of you guys Run/Jog/Shuffle/Walk in the morning SOme of you are crazy fit so I know at least 3 people should comment on this What's pissin me off is that I've lost 3 lbs...>.< with less exertion, i lost more weight in college LOL! |

you cant run one day and lose a ton, but if you keep at it youd be surprised. it is however one of the best ways to clear the mind, and stir the soul. i would get to thinking about what i was pissed off about and i would run harder and longer. every part of my body would be awake, warmed up and have this ahhhh shit lets go mentality and be ready for whatever. keep doing it and after a lil bit of time your gonna catch a mirror shot and see some rip, and be like (with a smile of course), maybe this one is better . so throw in a few situps and push ups after your run and the next time you catch yourself in the mirror , then youll be hooked! now work on the eating habits if there shabby and youll be good to go. |

Good job, Ivan, keep at it. I've been a runner on and off for most of my life and it really does help both mentality and physically. I was running down by the waterfront every morning at Branson. It was cool and quiet. There is a one mile track in a park 1/2 mile away so I can run there, do a lap, and run back in less than 20 minutes.

)for lunch and dinner, and two smaller salads for breakfast and mid day snacks. that plus walking 2 miles a day shed 30+ lbs in like a month and a half. I'm in my plateau weight so I'm not expecting to lose a lot of weight right away. BTW, yea, i've already been told not to run everyday. She said, basically, 3-4 times a week, so I run monday tuesday thursday and friday. take the weekends and wednesdays off of running, but I work out when i should be running on wednesdays. Mostly Core stuff until i get some proper weights, then I'll start lifting again Quote:
I'm working up to being able to run the whole thing at a constant, respectable, clip ... Right now I've got check points along my route. They are points where I run, and where i "slowdown". Depending on how hard i ran in the "run" zone I'll either walk or jog in the slow down points. I ran clear through one of my slow down points today right up to the next run zone! Lots of hills, lol. | ||

| Oct.'07 Posts: 1,750 | I ran 5 miles this morning. I usually run 6-8 miles before work (2-3 weekdays) and a longer run of 8-13 miles on the weekend. I try to get between 15-25 miles in a week. However, this Thursday I am thinking of waking up at 3:30am and be on the road by 4am. I want to run 20 miles before work, because I am thinking about doing a marathon this October. I was 215 lbs back in March 2003. I am now 163 lbs (52 lbs lighter) after 6 years. However, I was down to 185 after 4 months. Then 175 after 1 year. I stayed there for 4.5 years (because it was my goal weight). I just lost another 10 lbs this spring when I increased my average run for 4 miles to 6 miles (had to by new clothes again...yeah!). BTW - as far as only salads....counting calories worked for me. I ate a wide range of foods, but kept a journal of my calories each day. I know various websites I can point you towards if you are interested. I do not do this anymore, because I am at my new goal weight, plus I know generally how much I am eating because I have kept a journal long enough. You need to run (or do any excercise) for at least 35 minutes before you start burning fat for fuel. The first 1/2 hour or so, you are just burning food energy. Running is awesome for the mind too. I am so relaxed (in the head) when I am running. I know Ferj and I and some others had some discussions on the subject not too long back .... here are the links on .com (sorry) http://www.acura-legend.com/vbulleti...hlight=running http://www.acura-legend.com/vbulleti...hlight=running If you have any specific questions as you progress, just ask. I have studied and applied what I have learned. I like to share what I know when someone wants to know it. .

I run 5 miles a day everyday and I love it. Started running to get back in shape because the meds I take for my epilepsy slow down the metabolism so absolutely everything you eat goes straight to you. Lost about 30lbs in less than a year and feeling great. Running helped motivate me to quit smoking cold turkey and it helps me get out all the frustration. It boosts the metabolism as well as keeping me inline with eating healthy. Now weighing in around 170lbs feeling much more fit. I have more progress to go but its one of the best activities you can possibly do. Just pop in your ipod and go man you will feel great about yourself at the end of everyday. Don't let yourself skip any runs or else you WILL fall into bad habits. Im doing about 25+ miles per week. Get on it my friend and you will love yourself more for it.

Well, I have taken up walking with my wife and son in the mornings and bball on thursday evening. I am looking to shed some serious poundage before September. We go around this path in Queens thats a pretty good length, I guess for me. I go around about 2.5 times right now, but I plan to do 4 laps. I think it is a quarter mile round. |
