Default Aftermarket Rear Speakers

I bought aftermarket kickers (www(dot)crutchfield(dot)com/p_20641D6934/Kicker-41DSC6934.html?tp=105) and I tried to install them and the the hole for the speakers wasn't big enough for the larger magnet.

Crutchfield said they fit, am I missing something here? Does anyone have any links to aftermarket speakers that fit in the '92 Legend LS Sedan without modification?

Thanks in advance.

The only thing Crutchfield "knows" about what fits any particular car is the size/diameter of the mounting plate. 6.5", 6x9", etc. Anything else like a larger than average depth due to magnet size is up to the buyer to figure out... Most aftermarket speakers (of the right mounting size) will fit. Kicker on the other hand....... Don't buy that stuff.

Also... You can post links.

I have Sony Xplode 6x9's in the rear and Sony Xplode (I think 5 1/4's) in the front and an Alpine 10" boxed sub in the trunk. The only modification was running the power wire from the battery (under the interior trim) for the sobwoofer.

I replaced the original head unit (kept it in a box) with a 200 watt sony double din / aux out for Ipod/Iphone but am going to replace the Sony head unit with a new one so my steering wheel controls work.

The stereo absolutely rocks!

Good luck

Very common. Living the Dream's 95 sedan only has 3 screws holding on to his replacements because of the larger magnets. I had to beat the lip back about 3/8" or so to get my JBL speakers to fit the Goblin because of the larger magnet and I didn't want it making contact.

Some of the manufacturers made the magnets taller with less girth and those likely will work better. I think the Kenwood reference series fit fine in my coupe but that's a different geometry than the sedan.

It might not be a sedan, I was just reflecting the fitment issues I ran up against.
