How long does it take to pair up ? Dallas has a classic station that I listen to.
The time it takes to switch from radio to casette + hands free pairing is my other concern (for answering the phone.) |

Mine sucks.
The one I got last week when I was insecure about my Bose 2200 flaking out and with that long drive home from NALM looming..... Held the bluetooth signal no more than 20 minutes at a stretch before failing. If working, the bluetooth fails after switching tasks like getting or making a phone call. Then it continuously fails to connect unless hooked up at same time as usb power cord. Then the countdown to failure starts. Sound quality sucks..... You get what you pay for. On top of that the Chinese strategy of drawing us into cheap products that are just more problems due to flakiness or failure in order to destroy us is a successful psychological warfare ploy. Kind of like the old concept of the Manchurian Candidate or Trojan Horse. Too bad I can't return this because I had Wasem order it on his account and I just paid him cash up front...... When I have nothing better to do I'll play around with it (like taking a drive with the cassette adapter plugged into the power cord to see if charging it makes a difference - but I already tried that last week....) |

Sorry to hear Eric! After we all sold you on it pretty hard too. I wonder if you just got a bad unit? Mine have been great with good streaming sound quality and no issues when going from music to phone call and back. Flat out, the battery will give me maybe 3-4 hours of play time between charges. Found this out when driving long stretches to 2015 NALM.
Msybe you can work something out with Waseem? It sucks you got such a dud! Would hope a replacement would be better. Or, remember a couple of us mentioned having 2...if you buy a second, confirm that one works well, then file a return for your original one saying it doesnt work and youd like another. Having two really is best....one charging while the other is in use....or for a second car

No - don't feel sorry. I've been curious about this ever since I saw Alex's post about the unit. You're probably right in saying that I have a defective unit. Alan and I were discussing what to do about the Bose 2200 to adapt it for Ipod or Iphone use all summer. I already knew that either I would send the iPod adapter unit I removed from my old sedan to install for my drive home or I would get one of these cassette adapters and bring it with me to Florida when I picked up the car. One problem I had was that my Legend Killer of a daughter had ruined the original phone connector within months of her getting her driver's license and I had been refusing to deal with it because of that. I've been using the same setup in my coupe for years now without any problem (that's the difference between a Legend Killer and the way I use things....). I had to get a replacement cord to use as the connector to the phone which 1) was obviously not as good as the original when comparing the thickness of the cabling, and 2) had a larger electrical gizmo circuit protector (?) than the original that made it more difficult for the installation than the original setup... When we got it to work at NALM (thanks Alex! I think all my grey hair and obvious seniority in age got me some extra added attention - I've been doing these simple installations for almost "years") the sound was obviously very "sweet" to my ears! But this didn't take into account the flakiness of the Bose 2200 due to its old age! Wasem and I spoke about the quality of the cassette adapter and he also agreed with my opinion regarding sound quality. I spoke with the Blitzsafe office (they also sell direct) and they asked me to call back when someone returns to the office so maybe they can offer me a good deal on a Bluetooth adapter (connecting to the CD port in back of the Bose 2200) since they don't sell the original wired connector anymore. My response to the guy was that there's no way I can believe that a Bluetooth "sound" can be as good as either a direct digital connection by an adapter or the CD player. My son has an Infinity G37 sedan (I think it's 3 years old now) and you know what? The direct connection is better than the Bluetooth for sound quality of music. I spoke about this with him and he even told me all those cassette adapters are just bullshit and why don't I just cave in and get a real Bluetooth adapter since road noise already is degrading the listening experience. But I'm stubborn, I want the best possible sound given the practicality of the circumstances. I still haven't heard any after market replacement for either the Bose 2100 or 2200 that approaches the clarity of these units (they may not be as LOUD as some aftermarkets but....) So for me here's the hierarchy of sound quality: #1 CD player #2 direct digital connection to music player (not the bullshit of earplug connector from phone or ipod earpiece) through the Lightning or prior connection if using evil menace of Apple #3 Bluetooth (maybe) or a good audio cassette only if you know what you are doing Maybe I'm just jaded with regards to sound quality. I'm not getting into the "why" in this post. All I know is that I know what I like. |
