Default bolts seized Center Mount bracket, TB WP journey

Well, this is frustrating. The crankshaft pulley bolt came lose with a steel pipe attached to a breaker bar.

But the (3) 14mm bolt heads underneath and the (3) 17mm nuts holding the center Mounting bracket are all seized. Already broke my 3/8" extension. Using the breaker bar on the 14mm ones underneath started to round them out.

Its been soaking in penetrant for days, I whacked it with a hammer 3-4 times each.

I have to remove that so I can get the crank pulley off! Any ideas?

Cheers, --srq

Argggghhhhhhhh, why welded on? These are the (3) 17mm nuts at the base.

Going to the harbor frt to get a 1/2” impact to work on the 14mm bolt heads.

Welded!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welded!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks,

Exclamation noob caution: Timing Belt Water Pump center brakcket

I was trying to get the welded nuts off! I am lucky I didn't do more damage. The impact got the 14mm bolts off from the bottom; I only needed to take off 2 and then just pivot it out of the way of the crankshaft pulley.

This only happened because you (like me often times) are thinking instead of reading (the manual).

Click the wiki link above and download the official service manual for your car. the exploded views and directions are pretty good.

I don't recommend doing much on these cars without at least scanning the manual first.

The manual pages are excellent and I read them a few times. Now I know to look at the diagrams more carefully. A bolt doesn't always have a removable nut on the other side!

Cheers,

Default Water pump bolt!

No matter what I do the right side long water pump bolt will not screw into the block.

Placed water pump on engine block
Checked gasket (still in place)
Hand tightend bolts, right side long bolt does not seat in the threads
Loosened all bolts, retightened all
still did not work
Took water pump off
oiled threads on the bolt and it did go in without the waterpump on.

Tried putting it in as the first through water pump and still no luck.
Mysterious!

Feeling very very dumb; its just one bolt.

Any ideas?

According to the Acura parts diagram

https://estore.honda.com/acura/parts...n=&b=E++15&dl=

All but one of the water pump bolts are 6 mm and one is 8mm. Are you sure you are not trying to put a 6 mm bolt in an 8 mm threaded hole? Also the bolts are different lengths. Could you have mixed the bolts up so the one where the threads don't catch is too short?

The thread sizes would probably be 6x1.0 mm and 8x1.25 mm.

I would carefully inspect all the bolts for damage and length and also run taps (6 mm and 8 mm) into the threads. Before you do that be sure to verify the thread sizes by taking them to a hardware store with a good assortment of metric fasteners.
