Default Emblem Painting.

I've searched around on this site to see if there was a DIY already in existence, but I didn't come across one. So, I figured I'd make this thread to share a little "how-to".

I picked up a set of L-E-G-E-N-D emblems off of a '95 sedan some days ago from a junkyard. The chrome on them was faded and even partially chipped off of the "G". That's when my mind went to work...

Things you need:

1. Bleach - can be found at your local Walmart/grocery store.
2. Scrubbing Pad - same as number 1.
3. Paint - Any color you want. I used Krylon Fusion for plastic spray paint. Can be found at Walmart.
4. Plastic Bucket - doesn't have to be anything special or big, just clean.
5. Dish Detergent - can be found at any Walmart/grocery store

Steps:

Fill your bucket with some bleach and place the emblems in it. This will start the process of removing the chrome.

Let the emblems sit in the bleach for a day. The next day, pour that bleach out and refill your bucket with more bleach, then let that sit for another day. Repeat this again for a third day. After the third day, let them sit again for an extra 12 hours.

After those 12 hours are up, clean them using the dish detergent and scrubbing pad in a basin/sink/bucket, whichever you prefer. Make sure to scrub them good and clean, then rinse and dry.

Grab your paint and your emblems, set up a well-ventilated area for painting, then paint. Let them dry as directed on your can of paint, and enjoy the results.

Any questions, I'll be glad to answer.

Thanks everyone for the compliments, I appreciate them.

the_professional, I remember staring at that same pic you posted of yours for a while, I definitely admire them.

Unfortunately, I don't have pics of them on my car just yet...I still have to buy some sort of adhesive to get them to stick on. Since my car is a '91 and my trunk is different, I also won't be able to quite put them in the same area as they come originally. After I've applied them though, I'll definitely take pics.

Again, thanks everyone.

Nice job on the emblems. They look like they turned out pretty good, and should be nice on your coupe. Def wanna see pics installed.
