Default Car smokes a lot now that it is cold

Now that's it is colder my car smokes a lot. It's coming out of the exhaust and it's seems to be way more than what I would consider to be normal. Just wondering if you guys have any clues as to what could be the issue?

Valve stem seals are the issue (most likely). It gets magnified when it's cold outside. Car takes longer to warm up. Check oil level and if you're ok then drive that muthafucka.

I was involved in the changing of guide seals this weekend. The biggest offenders are the intake guide seals. The oil goes down the intake valve stem and sits on the back of the valve. When you start it up the oil is washed into the cylinder and burns. While we did the swap with the heads off it should not be that tough to change the intake seals in the car. The intake valves are on the top of the valve-train. You would need a way to pry off the old seals. With the heads off we just grabbed the seals with some pliars and pulled them off. There is a nifty Acura tool for removing the seals.

I think in the next few years many more of our cars are going to be needing this service. If you are doing a timing belt anytime in the future that would be the time to do the guide seals.

Hmm my 'other car' has been doing a good bit of smoking out the quads here this week also. I had to change a t-stat this past weekend and even once the car has made it to operating temperature its doing it. I'm going to recheck my coolant level as it didn't accept much even with the breather valve open. Trust me guys Legend t-stats are MUCH simplier to replace!

Naw I think mike just put the motor in cause it only had low miles on it. I asked mike about it when I picked my car up last year cause it was smoking back then and he said it was from something leaking in my exhaust before the swap got done. So, I think I am going to have to get look into the valve stems.
