That is the VIN number to your car, not the serial number off the radio.

If you go to the acura dealer they can pull it right up for you. The Acura dealer here wouldnt do it over the phone because they had to verify the VIN off the car and the Serial # matched. It was free and took like 10 min.

No need for that. Just call aofa with your serial number. All they need is the serial number. Nothing to match required nor anything they can match.

That's dum. Its like 20 years later what if you got it from a junk yard. That's where I got mine. My Acura dealer did it over the phone. With just the serial number. I would curse them out if they gave from garbage about that.

there isn't even anything to match, they don't have a database of vin's and hu serials, they're just trying to get you to come in and charge to fee's and shit. just call acura of augusta in GA, simple at that.
