Default What-a weekend. axle fun.

so my axle finally took a dump more or less. its been bad since NALM when it failed on the dyno. rofl!

so i had to go replace my breaker bar, b/c it broke while i was trying to tighten the axle nuts on the .

new breaker bar in hand, i goto try break my nut loose, BAM:

dammmmit!! WTF! BS > u get the point sears being a 20min drive from my house, i go and borrow my friends ace breaker bar (so incase it breaks also, ace is down the street).

so i drive down to ace, and they are out of stock on the 1/2in drive and no 3/4 drive's in stock.

WELL, i finally made it to sears today, and guess what >?? no 1/2in left in stock. hmmm do those relaly break so fast?

so 1 3/4in drive breaker bar later

30min from breaking the axle nut loose had i the car assmebled and ready to raise her down and tighten the axle nut

That'd be why I stopped using consumer level tools years ago...though if you're not using them daily professional grade tools are a bit pricey

After 2 18" breaker bars and a 1/2 ratchet broke, I figured it was time to upgrade for the long-term! I love that IR gun though - 5 hits and both axle nuts were off.

Just buy like 10 breaker bars from Harbor Freight. That's where many of my tools come from. They're crazy cheap and pretty good quality normally. This way you have backups

i never had a problem with breaking my breaker bar. its been good for 5 years. i was suprised when it broke. on a side note: every time i've treid using a impact on a axle nut it didn't work. with the amount of force it put on the breaker bars, i feel like its was like 1000lbs hmm. dunno. i'm not much for air tools, guess i'm jjust used to manual labor

I use my S&K 3/4" impact. Zips the axle nuts off just as if they were already loose.

lol when I did my friend's axles, we couldnt get it off, so i told him to drive it to the gas station like a few blocks away and ask them to break both loose for him. It took them like 10 seconds with the air impact.
