I have an afternoon phone call scheduled with Verticalscope's (Autoforums) CTO today

Verticalscope is the parent company of Autoforums. After someone posted Rob Laidlaw's email address yesterday, I took it upon myself to email him and ask for an audience. Their CTO emailed me back and requested my phone number. Problem is, I think it's a little too late now. After I close out my g/bs and move my important threads over, I won't be back. I'm sure a great number of you all feel the same way.

Now, outside cursing and what not, is there anything you guys would like me to relay to him that was not discussed in threads yesterday? And please keep your post *clean* and well thought out. I'd like to be able to just show him this link. It would speak volumes to them, I'm sure.

They messed up a family place, we were just fine before them... They don't have any respect for tradition,and what was in place before them. Next time they want to buy a forum they should learn the history first..

Not that it matters but, if this is our new home, which I like alot better. I would let them know that Nadeem, failed miserably at implementing the new rules, and that the new vendor rule was ludicrous, for example when I bought the black parking brake from you, it was a "commercial sale". I had the company attorney verify that for me this morning. It doesn't matter if you made money or lost money off of me when i bought it from you. It was not a private sale. So under rule you would need to be a vendor.

Please tell them members who have been there for 7 years are not happy with them. those who have been there for longer are even more pissed off. They jumped in the ring with alli because they thought they could box, and unfortunately, they misjudged at how prepared they were. We wont stand for commercialization of a forum that has no support to begin with. But lik eyou said it wont matter because the mtm have been permabanned and moved on over here, where the admins actually listen to us, know our cars, post regularly, and share our passion for our own cars.

What they ultimately need to understand is that this wasn't just in response to the vendor fees. It's been an increasing load with spam banners, half of the home page being filled with autoguide.com filler, banners on the top, left, and bottom. The straw that broke the proverbial camel's back was the way in which Nadeem handled this situation. He claimed that none of the mods had contacted him, and then Sam pulls out the string from 3 months prior that clearly contradicts that. Then his tact continued as he closed and deleted thread after thread, permabanning several tenured members (some of the attacking comments made by said individuals could have been crafted better in my opinion), deleting his own posts (not ALL of them mind you, only the ones that came off in a negative light and contradicted what Sam posted), and editing signatures of members. While I realize that our small community has nowhere near the participation of cars currently in production or for which there is adequate aftermarket support, most of the most active members have now jumped ship from a place they've called home for the better part of a decade.



FYI for those who don't know, Rob Laidlaw is a 28 year old who used to own Modified Magazine, Modified Mustang Magazine, and Modified Luxury & Exotics Magazine. His spinoff created AutoForums which now has over 150 of the most popular auto forums on the net. What you'll find is that a lot of those who were taken over by AF have had similar responses to what happened yesterday, although its unlikely they had the mass exodus and the website space already available.

The Permaban without reason needs to be addressed.
Although I have no intention of EVER using that forum again, through the years I have contributed droves of information to it for which I would like to be able to retrieve.
I used my ex-stepson's dormant SN to try to talk again to Nadeem about the unfair ban and the bastard just banned it too.
Express that Nadeem's attitude is what has crushed A-L.com!
