Back in 1990 my wife & I were helping my parents shop for a new car. An Acura salesman was showing us a 1990 Legend (which my parents ultimately bought). When he opened the hood, my wife & I pointed at the hood insulation and laughed that it had the "special engine fire blanket, also". The salesman looked quite puzzled, until we explained that we had just come from the Nissan dealership where one of the lot vultures had claimed that the plastic tabs which hold the underhood insulation were designed to melt quickly if there was an engine fire in order to drop the fire proof blanket unto the engine to smother the fire. The Acura salesman rolled his eyes and said "we don't brag about our engines catching on fire."

Yeah those are REALLY hard to find if at all. Rumor has it that Acura was looking for one when they "rebuild" Chris Bridges (a.k.a. Ludacris) Legend after his accident which they showed at SEMA a few years back. Had I known how difficult it would be I would definitely have picked up the one I had ordered from the local dealership when I did my build in 2013. I ended up finding a semi decent one at the yard and carefully got it off. I think one of those plastic tabs took a "leave of absence" though.

As for Lou getting banned . . . he's a pro at that kind of stuff nowadays.

Sounds like the back and forth I've seen from the Nissan and Acura dealerships in the past. Fun times especially when my Legend wrenchman was working at the Nissan dealership. Now I have no regular Legend wrenchman other than what I can get done.
